Manuel Bauer | Photography
Born in 1966 in Zurich, apprenticed as a commercial photographer before turning to photojournalism.
Since 1990 he has devoted himself mainly to long-term projects, and is known for his work on India, Tibet and the Tibetan diaspora. He teaches photojournalism in Switzerland and has been the recipient of numerous international prizes for photography. He is represented by the FOCUS photo agency in Hamburg.

Matthieu Ricard | Text
Born in 1946 in Paris, did research into molecular genetics at the Institut Pasteur in Paris before becoming a Buddhist monk. He is the Dalai Lama’s French interpreter and has spent the past 30 years living in a monastery in the Himalayas. Matthieu Ricard has published numerous books on various aspects of Buddhism in the Himalayas.

Christian Schmidt | Text
Born in 1955 in Zurich, studied journalism in Zurich and Fribourg. Since 1984 he has worked as a freelance journalist, publishing articles in various
print media. Chrisian Schmidt is also the author and editor of several books. Many of his publications are collaborations with the photographer Manuel Bauer.

Koni Nordmann | Publisher
Born in 1962 in Zurich, worked for 15 years as a photo-journalist for international periodicals. He is a co-founder of KONTRAST Verlag in Zurich and since 1999 has been head of the photojournalism department at the MAZ – the Swiss Centre for Media Studies in Lucerne.
